Ok, so you go to the gym 5 days a week but your not seeing any changes? Sadly, This is something I deal with frequently. There could be a number of reasons for this like Nutrition, Weights, Range of motion and effort. I have seen people go to the gym and do the exact same workout every other day. Week after Week. Your body adapts easily. If your always doing the same thing nothing will ever change. I'm sure you've seen that person who's on the treadmill every day for an hour running at the same pace. Sure they're sweating but they're not improving.
When I am doing my programs I try to make every day completely different from the last. When you train everyday it's nice to have variety so it never gets Boring for you or your body.
You should constantly be challenging yourself. Try a heavier set of dumbbells. Try a minute faster or a higher incline on the treadmill. Try to beat your last 500 meter row time. Time your workout to see how long it takes you to complete it and then the next time you do it beat that time.
Another idea to keep the intensity is to have a workout buddy. Ryan and I workout together every weekend. We do different workouts but we are there together. Yesterday we decided to do a crossfit workout together for time "Murph" 1 mile run, 100 Pull Ups and then 200 Push ups and the 300 squats and the another Mile run in that Order.. I wanted to see how hard he would work if I wasn't standing next to him but in the other room.
I finished that workout in 33 minutes and it took him 39. Why? Because You don't realize how many Breaks you take if someone is not beside you. I know he can beat me at this workout. He's better at Pull ups. He can crush me in the Push ups but he wont work as hard if someone isn't watching him. My head is wired differently. I never think it's going to be enough therefor I never stop. Not for one second did I think I was going to beat him so I ran faster, I stopped less. If I took a break I grabbed a quick drink and got right back to it.
Your workout will be as intense as you allow it to be. If you want results, Push yourself beyond the limits you create in your mind. Don't set boundaries. Step it up every single time you are on the floor. It's there and then that changes are made.
The mind is the limit. As long as the mind can envision the fact that you can do something, you can do it, as long as you really believe 100 percent.~Arnold Schwarzenegger
